I went into Good Sam's ER at 9:30pm on a Friday night for a bite wound that injured my tendon and infected my hand and I was seen by an ER doc within 40 minutes from walking in the door (anyone who has spent time in the ER for a non life threatening tried ing injury knows that this is fast turn around). Before going to Good Sam, I tried O'Conner first and (no exaggeration) saw about 50 people waiting in the waiting room and immediately walked out because I knew I wouldn't be seen for hours. My ER doc was amazing - he worked hard to try to cheer me up after an obviously crappy day and he immediately realized that my wound was beyond his expertise and called in one of his friends who is a surgeon (and who wasn't on call that night) to see me. She was there within 30 minutes to examine me. Unfortunately - my infected wound was severe enough to get me admitted into the hospital for 6 days, but I am very thankful that my hospital stay was at Good Sam. The nurses (although over worked) are amazing! They have great bedside manner, very responsive, communicate well with each other during shift changes (this is key in ensuring no treatment screw ups) and with the doctors, and management tries hard to keep the nurses with the same patients on consecutive days as much as possible, so you don't feel like you have to get to know a new person every 8 hours, and try their best to make you as cofortable as you can be in a hospital. They are pretty liberal on visiting hours, which is great to accomodate visits from family members who are working. The food is hospital food, but at least the menu is pretty big and they have a room service model where you can order whenever you want. Every process ran smoothly during my stay - limiting my anxiety. If you have to go to the hospital, I highly recommend Good Sam.
